Are Kids Invited?
We love your little ones, but due to limited space, we’re having an adult-only celebration.
What Time Should I Arrive For The Wedding Ceremony?
Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum is one of the most popular and well-visited attractions on the island. Due to its popularity and wedding set up, guests will not be allowed onto the property until 5:45pm. If you're an early bird, feel free to check out the Lighthouse Hotel across the street. Their outdoor bar will be open.
What To Wear To The Wedding?
Tropical formal to us means pastels, colors, and patterns when possible. Ladies may wear dresses of any length.
Ladies, very skinny heels may be tricky for the brick path ceremony but the dance floor is completely flat. Tired feet? We will have complimentary "rescue flats" or you can rock your bare feet. Gentlemen, light or colored suits preferred (bow tie/tie optional). The ceremony and reception will take place outside. After the wedding, wear your casual white outfit out on the town!
What Should I Wear In Key West?
The weather in Key West is beautiful in January, with daytime temperatures ranging from mid-60s°F to mid-70s°F. Dress in layers and be prepared for some breezy evenings. Key West is very casual. Daytime: shorts and a breezy long sleeve or fitted t-shirt/tank. Evening: leggings, jeans, and a possible sweater or hoodie may be wanted, especially near the water.
What Does An Unplugged Ceremony Mean?
We kindly ask that guests refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony. Our professional photographer will capture all the special moments. After the ceremony, take all the mementos you want! We will cherish them.
Why Are There Chickens In Key West?
Key West chickens, also known as Key West roosters or feral chickens, are a distinctive and iconic part of Key West's charm. These chickens roam freely throughout the island. The chickens are federally protected so please do not touch or engage with them. Key West chickens are a part of the island's quirky vibe, often a symbol of the island’s free-spirited atmosphere.
What Should I Pack?
As mentioned previously, packing layered clothing is best. Sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and insect repellant (if you attract mosquitos) are must have items. You can buy almost anything at CVS in Key West--tumblers, wine, beach chairs, make up, sunscreen, trinkets etc. and grocery items too. If you forget any key items at home, CVS has it.
How Do I Pick Where To Stay In Key West?
Old Town: staying in Old Town means you're in the historical district, surrounded by charming streets, colorful buildings, and lots of character. It’s close to key spots, but can also offer a quieter, more laid-back atmosphere compared to Duval Street. Duval Street: if you want to be in the heart of the action, near bars, restaurants, and nightlife, staying on or near Duval Street is ideal. You will be within walking distance of top attractions like Mallory Square, the Southernmost Point, and the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum.
Near the Beach: if you’re looking to be close to the water, consider staying near Smathers Beach or Higgs Beach. These areas offer access to the beach and quieter settings while still being a short drive or bike ride to downtown.
Budget: Luxury--for a more luxurious experience, places like the Southernmost House or The Marker Waterfront Resort offer top-tier amenities, private pools, and stunning views. Mid-range--if you’re looking for a comfortable stay with a good price-to-value ratio, options like Heron House or Eden House offer a great location and charming ambiance. Budget friendly-- affordable options like The Key West Inn or small guesthouses and motels can be a good choice without breaking the bank.
Type of Experience: Key West offers a variety of accommodations to match different travel styles. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT PLACES TO STAY. Boutique Hotels & Guesthouses: these are great for a more intimate, personalized experience. Many of them are in historic buildings and offer unique, charming vibes. Look for places with small, private pools and garden courtyards for a more relaxed experience. Resorts: if you’re looking for more amenities and a “resort” vibe (with pools, spas, and other luxury perks), you might want to check out places like Ocean Key Resort & Spa or Casa Marina Key West, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. Bed & Breakfasts: for a cozy, personal stay, a B&B can provide local charm and often includes breakfast, which can be a nice touch to start your day. Vacation Rentals: if you want more privacy or space, renting a house or condo through services like Airbnb or Vrbo can be ideal. You can often find places with kitchens for more flexibility on meals. Romantic Getaway: for a romantic experience, consider a private, adults-only guesthouse or a boutique hotel with a secluded courtyard, like The Gardens Hotel or La Te Da.
